Natural rocks and holes in a variety of shapes are emerging along the La Nga River, especially in the upstream sections where the water recedes in the dry season. The rocks have been shaped by the currents, making them appear as though they have been carved.
Located about 90km from Hanoi and 15km south west of Thai Nguyen City, Nui Coc Lake, a reservoir of 25km² and 23m in depth, is well-known for its beautiful scenery and a legendary love story of a boy named Cong and a girl named Coc.
Almost every day in the summer, children get together at a well to have a bath and play. Every day, usually in the late morning or late afternoon, women use the well area to wash foods. In addition to their practicality, these “well meetings” provide the community with all of the latest news and updates through gossip and hearsay.
It is said that in the past, people in the North who could not endure the exploitation of the feudal imperialists went Southwards and finally reached Ca Mau Cape, the Southernmost land of Vietnam, endowed with advantages by nature. They settled down and the more they lived there the more they understood their forefather’s saying “Forest is gold, sea is silver”. That area is home to Ca Mau National Park which still contains many mysteries yet to be discovered.
